Arrowhead’s state-ranked boys hockey team improved to 18-0-1 on the season Saturday night as they rallied in the third period to defeat visiting Verona in a non-conference game, 4-1.
With the score tied at 1-1 after two periods, the Warhawks blitzed the Wildcats with three goals in an eight-minute to start the final period and that was enough to vault them to a 4-1 win.
Arrowhead will play a monster conference game Tuesday at 7 p.m. against host University School. University School leads the league at 5-0 and the Warhawks are second at 4-0. Marquette is third at 4-3 and KMMO is fourth at 3-2.
Tyson Skaggs opened the scoring in the first period as Tanner Schutt got the assist.
With the score tied going into the final stanza, AHS got goals from Trenton Skaggs, Jace Mullett and Trenton Skaggs to break the game open. Zach Wolverton had two assists on those scores and Nick Catalano had one.
AHS goalie Mark Moreno saved 33 of 34 shots. Arrowhead also had 34 shots on goal.
